Clavister Embeds Qosmos Technology to Improve Application Visibility in Security Solutions

February 19, 2013

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Qosmos (News - Alert), a provider of Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network packet broker solutions, has just formed partnership with Clavister (News - Alert), a provider of security gateway solutions, to deliver in-depth application visibility into network traffic flows.

Under this partnership, Clavister has embedded Qosmos’ Network Intelligence technology ixEngine within Clavister's line of Security Gateway (News - Alert) products. Customers using this new Application Control functionality now benefit from stronger control and monitoring of security threats in their networks, the company said.

The solution finds significant relevance in today’s cloud and enterprise infrastructures that face complex threats from different sources.

According to John Vestberg, CEO of Clavister, the integration of Qosmos technology in Clavister offerings allows them to decode application traffic in real-time and deliver unprecedented levels of security.

“The partnership with Qosmos also means that we can focus all our resources on enriching our security portfolio, while relying on Qosmos for network intelligence technology and continuous updates of protocol signatures and metadata,” Vestberg added.

The partnership benefits Clavister as it gains a deeper level of application visibility and the ability to manage threats up to the application level. These features help the company address the latest security issues common in cloud, telecom and enterprise customers.

Clavister network security gateways can effectively block or control unauthorized or misbehaving applications. The solution recognizes over 1,100 applications and network protocols, and extracts more than 6,000 metadata tags associated with applications and protocols.

Meanwhile, Qosmos ixEngine (News - Alert) identifies and extracts information traveling over networks in real time, providing a true picture of the traffic. It has the ability to identify queries and extract specific data, allowing Clavister solutions to block, filter and mitigate security threats before they affect enterprise assets.

“Innovative companies like Clavister recognize that the complexity and speed of change in network protocols and applications requires dedicated expertise,” said Thibaut Bechetoille (News - Alert), CEO at Qosmos. “I am delighted that Qosmos can add value for Clavister by being a true partner for network intelligence technology.”
