Encryptics Device-Level E-mail Encryption System Selected by DIR Texas

February 04, 2013

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Encryptics, a specialist in data privacy and protection services, was picked by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) to deploy a device-level E-mail encryption system.

Encryptics will enable the department of information resources to enhance data security by providing a multi-layered information protection system. Security is maintained, whether data is in transit, in use or at rest. DIR also need not to buy new hardware or bother about maintenance.

Karen W. Robinson, chief information officer, State of Texas revealed in a case study, “The capabilities that the Encryptics solution brings to bear are an important element of our overall security strategy.”

The device-level E-mail encryption protects sensitive communications and offers cross-platform support for “bring-your-own-device” (BYOD) capabilities. Also, the solution ensures provision of digital rights management (DRM) so that the agency has real-time control over who can see and share their digital content.

The secure communications enables enhanced contact between outside entities and enables the receiving of encrypted messages and files in return. The agency also complies with freedom of information requests when they arise. The Encryptics solution is compliant with existing IT infrastructures, allowing easy deployment without disturbing routine functions and employees, said officials.

Mitch Scherr, chief executive officer of Encryptics, said, “Our team created the industry’s first Trusted Peer-to-Peer platform, and we are very pleased that DIR selected our solution for robust yet cost-effective data protection.”

Usually solutions tend to provide optimum security at the cost of efficiency as it slows down the communication process, but Encryptics did not affect the communication for DIR, said Todd Kimbriel, DIR’s Director of DCS Services and eGovernment.

In August 2012 Encryptics unveiled Encryptics Mobile, which includes data security solutions for the iPhone (News - Alert), iPad, and also the Android platform. The company releases solutions that secure digital content for the lifecycle of a document.

SAFE Encryptics Mobile is an extension of the Encryptics Professional solution. With Encryptics Professional and Encryptics Mobile, messages sent from iPhone, iPad, and the Android (News - Alert) platforms are protected.
