Sandvine Wins $4.5 Million Network Policy Control Orders

December 14, 2012

By Deepika Mala, TMCnet Contributor

Two Western European mobile operators recently awarded Sandvine (News - Alert), a premier provider of broadband network solutions, with Network Policy Control orders, totaling over $4.5 million.

Officials said that the task orders will help expand existing Sandvine deployments that enable "bill shock" notification and differentiated subscriber services.

Sadvine network policy control equipment and software allows DSL, FTTx, cable, fixed wireless and mobile operators to understand network traffic, manage network congestion, and create new services and revenue.

The solution also helps them mitigate traffic that is malicious or undesirable to subscribers and delivers QoS-prioritized multimedia services and increase subscriber satisfaction.

With the help of Sandvine, subscribers are able to free themselves from unexpected charges or “bill shock” and create a safe environment for themselves. This further helps them in driving demand for data and smartphone adoption.

In a statement, Tom Donnelly, COO, Sales and Global Services, Sandvine, said: “The customers are part of a multinational operator group with properties in Europe and Latin America. Sandvine expects to recognize the majority of related revenues in the first half of 2013.” "Sandvine's products are helping these two mobile customers develop new revenue streams through services that capitalize on data growth while maintaining high-touch communications with their subscribers."

Sandvine, with more than 220 service provider customers in more than 85 countries serving hundreds of millions of broadband and mobile data subscribers, has been successful in enhancing the Internet experience worldwide.

In related TMC (News - Alert) news, Sandvine has successfully deployed its Network Policy Control solutions in three North American wireless networks, BendBroadband (News - Alert), FRC/The Blue Zone and Main Street Broadband.
