Sandvine's Routing Efficiency Dashboard to Help CSPs Better Manage Network Investments

November 21, 2012

By David Gitonga, TMCnet Contributing Writer

For network operators, identifying the most efficient links for high-demand traffic, like video and rich media, translates to immediate cost savings and consistent quality experience for subscribers. To help operators make such routing decisions, Sandvine, a provider of intelligent broadband network solutions, has announced the launch of the Routing Efficiency Dashboard.

The Routing Efficiency Dashboard will provide detailed insights into routing and transit links that affect operation expenses on both fixed and mobile networks in its Network Analytics library. The new dashboard now makes it possible to reroute communication traffic toward more appropriate routes by identifying the most efficient links that offer cost savings while delivering the best quality rich media experience.

The director of network services, EATEL, Harris Miller, said, “Sandvine’s (News - Alert) Network Analytics product has been instrumental in highlighting business-critical application and quality metrics on our network. As a family company, EATEL prides itself in delivering top applications like YouTube (News - Alert), Skype and Netflix at the highest quality to our subscribers across Louisiana.”

According to the chief technology officer at SandVine, Don Bowman, communication service providers (CSPs) use complex peering and transit tools in addition to their Border Gateway (News - Alert) Protocol (BGP) to determine the best available routes for subscriber traffic. To help reduce costs and improve subscriber quality of experience, Sandvine’s Routing Efficiency Dashboard offers insight into inefficient and over-worked transit links, which will help CSPs better manage their investments for increased quality experience and an enhanced network performance to the benefit of subscribers.

Sandvine’s Routing Efficiency Dashboard is just one of the many executive dashboards that Sandvine provides as part of its comprehensive business intelligence tools to help analyze network traffic and help providers gain insight into their network subscriber usage. The company serves more than 200 service providers in more than 85 countries that have hundreds of millions of subscribers on both broadband and mobile networks.
