Stingray Product Family by Riverbed Technology Boasts New Way of Creating Snappy, Secure Web-Based Applications

November 19, 2012

By David Gitonga, TMCnet Contributing Writer

The ability to rapidly scale up and meet customer demand with the ability to roll out new features on a daily or weekly basis in your online applications is no longer a dream, as Riverbed Technology has announced the availability of the Stingray product family.

Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology will avail the solution suite through Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace. The company also stated its intention of introducing Stingray Traffic Manager Software, compatible with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), in a move that will give enterprises the option of either rendering highly available applications to a single availability zone or to a hybrid environment comprising third-party data centers and availability zones.

Stingray harnesses the power of using a basic load balancer and couples it with other technologies to give developers the ability to deploy impressive applications. The Stingray Traffic Manager contains the Stingray’s Aptimizer WCO technology and the Stingray Application Firewall application.

Many reputable firms have tried the solution and shown that it works. According to Simon McLean, managing director of Click Travel, the online business travel provider has recorded “instance performance improvements” after the implementation of the Riverbed ADC (News - Alert) solution in the Amazon Cloud setting, resulting in faster performing Web applications.

Large corporations face the challenges of having scalable SSL and compression solutions and in-depth protection against external threats. Stingray Traffic Manager addresses these challenges by leveraging applications running on AWS to achieve load balancing, optimize user experience and a scalable application, while maintaining fine-tuned applications.

These capabilities secure Stingray’s position as a core component of application infrastructure. The solution will be available in variedly-priced solutions depending on capacity reservation and cost models.
