VSS Monitoring (News - Alert), a company deeply rooted in the network packet broker industry, has recently been presented with some pretty hefty awards from Fierce Innovation Awards Program, an operator-reviewed awards program from the thought leaders that produce FierceWireless (News - Alert), FierceTelecom and FierceCable.
Achieving not only the "Test and Measurement" award but also the overall award of "Best in Show: Most Efficient/Cost Saver" for its vBroker Series, the network packet broker was also recognized as a finalist in the "Device and Network Security" awards category for its vProtector Series.
"FierceMarkets (News - Alert) is an outlet of news and analysis for the telecommunications industry, and it's rewarding to receive such high honors in so many areas of its awards program, especially to be recognized by these high-ranking experts in telecom," said Rob Markovich (News - Alert), VSS Monitoring SVP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, in a statement. "These awards recognize and validate the company's heritage in the telecom space. Communications service providers turn to VSS Monitoring to best improve their customer satisfaction assurance infrastructure, while achieving significant savings."
When a company is seeking the best network packet broker to meet their individual company needs they must closely consider 10 different criteria which include:
- Can all devices be connected and managed as a single virtual system?
- Can the system work across LAN/WAN/Cloud boundary easily?
- How flexible is load balancing?
- How granular is filtering?
- How flexible is slicing?
- How simple to start?
- Can they de-duplicate packets for tools?
- Can they re-assemble packets for tools?
- Do they have DPI stateful filtering?
- Can they redirect real-time traffic to inline security and network optimization tools?
VSS Monitoring was ultimately selected for these honors based upon factors including technology innovation, financial impact, market validation and the overall end-user customer experience.
Back in September, the organization unveiled its Network Packet Brokers for Dummies book which divulges into eight chapters which are separated into categories such as starting with the basics, understanding TAPs, understanding network packet brokers, use cases for network security, use cases for network performance, use cases for service providers, selecting the right NPB vendor, and last but definitely not least ten ways to lower your company’s TCO. And just last month, the free e-book version of the informative guide was unveiled.
