VSS Monitoring, Riverbed Forge Partnership

November 14, 2012

By Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, TMC

VSS Monitoring’s NPB solutions now integrate seamlessly with the Riverbed (News - Alert) Cascade product family to further extend advanced network analysis and visibility for enterprises.  In related news, VSS Monitoring forged a technology partnership with Riverbed under the Riverbed Technology Alliance Program, to complement Riverbed Cascade products and deliver a network analysis and visibility solution with precision time stamping for service providers, government, and enterprise customers.

That means that Cascade products can read the time stamping functionality of the VSS Monitoring (News - Alert) vBroker, Distributed Series and Protector Series solutions.  As a result, the companies say, users will realize accelerated network analysis and shorter time to resolution of network and application performance problems.

“The time stamp functionality from VSS Monitoring gives Riverbed Cascade customers increased visibility into network and application performance problems for more rapidly addressing performance issues,” says Dimitri Vlachos, senior director of marketing and products, Cascade Business Unit at Riverbed.

“Riverbed delivers industry-leading network performance management solutions, and integrating with Cascade products enables new and important time stamping and network visibility capabilities for joint customers,” says Dean Beaver, VP Global Sales and Alliances, VSS Monitoring.

VSS Monitoring, which in June became part of the communications group at $18 billion in company Danaher (News - Alert) Corp., introduced its first product line, the Distributed Series, in the 2008-9 time frame. In 2010, it added to the portfolio with the vProtector Series, an active in-line tool monitoring solution for such applications as intrusion protection and WAN optimization. A year later, VSS Monitoring introduced its Finder Series, which added deep packet inspection techniques for more specific filtering compared to the Distributed Series. Most recently, VSS Monitoring introduced the vBroker Series, which does everything the Distributed Series does and incorporates the functionality of the Protector Series and eventually the Finder Series as well. The vBroker Series products take VSS Monitoring into the 40-gigabit realm and, soon, the 100-gigabit arena.
