Touted as a member of the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance, VSS Monitoring (News - Alert), a network packet broker provider, recently introduced a new solution for SSL inspection at the McAfee (News - Alert) FOCUS 12 Security Conference.
The new robust offering specifically designed for SSL inspection provides visibility into encrypted communications across LAN, WAN and cloud boundaries. It is based on 1U and 2U network appliances powered by Intel’s (News - Alert) Xeon processors and accelerated by Netronome’s flow processors and SSL inspection software.
“We are pleased to see VSS Monitoring offer a solution that tackles threats hidden inside encrypted communications,” said Ed Barry, vice president of the Security Innovation Alliance, McAfee, in a statement. “VSS Monitoring’s network packet brokers with SSL inspection can benefit our mutual customers with greater protection, improved compliance and higher performance.”
Most of the cloud and Internet-based applications used today are secured by encryption. This can sometimes cause companies to lose control over communications taking place on their network, which results in undetected inbound threats and outbound data leaks.
This new SSL inspection solution overcomes multiple challenges by providing line rate decryption for millions of simultaneous flows on 1/10 gigabit Ethernet links, supporting inbound and outbound SSL inspection of network communications, full integration and interoperability with new and existing packet broker fabric deployments as well as full interoperability with the McAfee Network Security Platform.
“Network security managers are facing an onslaught of new web- and cloud-based communications that use encryption by default,” added Dean Beaver, VP of Worldwide Sales & Alliances at VSS Monitoring. “Our Network Packet Brokers with enhanced SSL inspection are a natural complement for organizations looking to extend the benefits of the McAfee Network Security Platform to include
