Recently, Mellanox announced that Fujitsu (News - Alert) Australia and New Zealand have selected the company's FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand end-to-end solutions. These products will serve as chosen interconnect for the new Petascale supercomputer for the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI).
Mellanox (News - Alert) InfiniBand adapters provide advanced bandwidth with ultra low-latency and efficient computing for performance-driven server and storage clustering applications. Network protocol processing and data movement overhead such as RDMA and Send/Receive semantics are completed in the adapter without CPU intervention.
Performance improvement is enhanced further with application acceleration and CORE-Direct and GPU communication acceleration.
The Australian supercomputer will help scientists to conduct advanced researches in the fields of climate change, meteorology, geospatial applications and astronomy. ANU supercomputer is expected to start working in October 2012 and will be the largest system in the southern hemisphere.
As part of the deal, the Mellanox interconnect solutions were provided by Mellanox’s local reseller, XENON Systems. XENON Systems specializes in the installation of High-Performance Computing solutions to major Australian and New Zealand research organizations.

Recently, the company announced that its RDMA technology for InfiniBand and Ethernet is supported in the Windows Server "8" Beta release. This technology allows users to download Windows Server "8" beta, with the Mellanox software drivers from Microsoft (News - Alert). Users can just do this by clicking at this link.
According to the company, this technology offers leading application performance and efficiency for file system, database and enterprise data centers.
