IsoTropic Networks Upgrades Global Satellite Network with iDirect Evolution Platform

September 05, 2012

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

iDirect (News - Alert), a provider of IP-based satellite communications, announced that global satellite communications provider, IsoTropic Networks, leveraged the features of the iDirect Evolution platform with iDX 3.1 software in order to upgrade its global satellite network.

IsoTropic owns and operates its teleport facility and is widely recognized as a premier iDirect Host Network Operator (HNO). IsoTropic delivers reseller partners the ability to maintain full control of their own networks and remotes.

The upgrades should help the company bring down its overall operating costs and grow its business.

“We value our long standing relationship with iDirect and their integration of TDMA and SCPC onto a single platform has become a true game changer for us,” said Lynn Salisbury-Zbierski, president of IsoTropic Networks. “The ability to switch a customer to SCPC to support heavy traffic conditions while retaining the benefits of our shared platform provides for network-wide bandwidth efficiencies and increased profitability.”

iDirect asserted that efficiency gains from Evolution’s built-in DVB-S2/ACM technology enables users to offer high-quality services at a lower cost to customers, while iDirect’s Group Quality of Service (GQoS) bandwidth allocation algorithm enables them to offer the flexibility to control quality of service levels, bandwidth management and traffic prioritization.

iDX 3.1 allows partners to offer narrowband service and support large-scale networks while leveraging their existing infrastructure. The ability of iDX 3.1 to integrate both TDMA and SCPC connectivity on a single network should let IsoTropic offer its customers the capability to change between TDMA and SCPC based on dynamic bandwidth requirements.

As it continues to invest in its technology, iDirect looks forward to finding new ways to advance the capabilities of satellite communications and continually lower TCO for its partners.
